[Player-dev] Test Tools for the Helix Client
Peter Fawcett pfawcett at real.comGood afternoon, I would like to announce that some tools for testing/qa of HelixPlayer and RealPlayer have been posted for use by the Helix Community. Two of these tools are still in a beta state but they have reached a level where we would like to share them. As more tools are developed, we will include them as well. Our goal is to provide the Helix Community with as many of the internal QA tools we use as is possible. All of these tools may be found here: http://helixqa.helixcommunity.org/ Our current offering includes: - Community Content Server - Browse, download and stream rights free test content. Content includes rm, ra, smil, realtext, realpix, mp3, ogg, and 3gp formats. Most formats have multiple encoding types. Datatypes may be streamed via http from apache as well as rtsp streaming from three versions of the HelixServer. - Embedded Client JavaScript API - A page that allows interactive triggering of all supported Helix Client JavaScript calls for the embedded client. The page features an embedded client and triggers for testing all known JavaScript calls for the helix client. Text areas are provided to display callback messages and feedback from the triggered functions. - Embedded Client Generator - A script that creates embedded test clients using specified parameters. Both the 'Mozilla' and 'ActiveX' style plugins are supported. - Helix Community Test System - An online harness for test passes of helix clients. The Helix Community Test System is only available to partners at this time, how ever we are working on a version that will be useable by the entire community. - Local Content Suite - A subset of the content from the Community Content Server is available for download in both zip and tar.gz packages. This content is rights free and is provided for testing purposes. Thanks for supporting the Helix Community by breaking our player and logging bugs... Peter Fawcett.
