I am working with KittyHawk, but thanks for the info - that is what I was looking for.
Would it be a lot of work to move that part to the stable branch?

Pieter,

We added a HELIX_CONFIG_SLUGGISHAUTOUPGRADE config which does
exactly what you want - tries to play only the codecs it
has. However, I think we have only checked that into the HEAD
for now.

If you are working off the head, you might try setting
this config and see if that works for you.
